Elaine McMichael is a visual artist whose primary medium is acrylics, however, her work includes experimentation with mixed media, watercolor, computer graphics, mural painting, and calligraphic lettering. The gamut of her subject matter ranges from expressing political themes and social issues to communicating through portraiture, exploring whimsy and capturing enchantment in particular places. Her art evokes places she has been, the connections she makes with people, her recollections of travel and the discovery of new neighborhoods. Elaine majored in fine Arts at Emmanuel College and went on to receive Master of Education and Doctor of Education degrees from the University of Massachusetts. Her lifelong focus has been the visual arts, as an art teacher, director of art education and music education and currently as a professor preparing teachers of art at Lesley University. Her artwork has been exhibited in Boston, Somerville, Melrose and in Bridgton Maine. Her work was selected for the National Art Education Association’s Electronic Gallery in 2004, 05, and 06.
