Melrose Arts promotes fine arts and artists in Melrose Massachusetts. Our activities include the annual Spring Arts Festival at Memorial Hall, and a Fall Art Walk featuring local artists in downtown store windows. Monthly Art Demontrations at the Milano Center feature accomplished local and regional artists. The 9th Annual Melrose Arts Festival will be held at Memorial Hall Friday April 25 to Sunday April 27, 2014. This juried fine arts and fine crafts show features over 40 exhibitors and draws a large attendance from Melrose and throughout the region. The Festival includes live music and catered food. Applications from fine artists and craft artists who wish to exhibit at the Arts Festival are being solicited, and the deadline for application is December 14, 2013.
The Beebe Estate is a community resource at 235 West Foster St. Each month a different art exhibit has been held for over a decade. Click here for Beebe Estate Gallery calendar for 2013. These shows feature a First Friday Opening Reception and Saturday gallery hours. Melrose was settled in the 1640's, and remained a rural community for 200 years. With the arrival of trains in the 1840's it became a desirable suburb of Boston. The rapid expansion created the Victorian ambience of much of this fine small city.
