Pat Crannell

Pat was a long time resident of Melrose before moving to Sheffield Heights in Saugus.  She and her husband, Ken, raised their two children there and were active in the Melrose Community Players for over 20 years.  She studies at the Boston Museum of Fine Arts and, privately, with a Boston artist.  Her major disciplines are Asian brush painting and pastels.  The two media give her the range of technical and aesthetic skills that she finds most exciting. The ink and watercolor painting on rice paper provide a classical tradition of subject matter, composition and attention to each brush stroke.  When she paints with pastels she feels more connected with the color of the subject matter.

One of Pat's favorite activities is attending workshops from MA. to FL. Observing and learning from excellent teachers/artists is a joy.  Pat has illustrated a text book that is now in its fourth edition, and was awarded a Second Place in the 2007 Martha's Vineyard All-Island Art Show.  She is a member of the Concord Art Association and the Sumi-e Society of America.
