MELROSE ARTS will sponsor the 7th annual Melrose Arts Festival at historic Memorial Hall at 590 Main Street between Friday April 27 and Sunday April 29, 2012.
The three day festival is an exhibition and sale featuring original fine arts and fine crafts by 44 juried artist exhibitors from Melrose and surrounding areas. All displayed art will be for sale throughout the three opening days.
The Friday evening Preview Party will feature live music from 7 to 10 PM. The $10 entry fee includes complimentary snacks, a prize drawing and a cash bar. The preview always has a festive and energetic atmosphere and the patrons appreciate the opportunity to get first viewing of the artist's displays. There will be a fund raising Fine Arts Raffle to coincide with the festival.
The weekend hours on Saturday will be 11AM - 6 PM and Sunday 11AM - 5 PM, and admission is free of charge during the weekend. A very large number of regional art lovers and local families attend this well advertised and promoted festival. Catered food and beverages will be available for sale throughtout the weekend. Well known Melrose artist Tom Sutherland will also be giving his watercolor painting demonstrations during the festival.
ANNOUNCEMENT TO PARTICIPATING ARTISTS:
CRITERIA FOR EXHIBITORS: The 2012 Melrose Arts Festival accepts Fine Art and Fine Craft in all media including painting, printmaking, photography, sculpture, drawing, assemblage/mixed media, wood, clay, metal and glass. Selection of artist exhibitors will be determined by an independent juror whose identity will be posted on this website.
All work must be handmade and the original design of the artist. Not acceptable are items made from commercial kits, commercially available purchased parts, molds, stencils, patterns or imports. Purchased beads in jewelry may be included only when used to accent a piece of the jewelers own design and execution or used in a way that transforms the material, such as bead weaving. Photomechanical reproductions of an artist’s original work must be labeled as such and not constitute more than 25% of the exhibitors display.
