2010 Melrose Arts Festival...a great success

The Melrose Arts and Cultural Association (MACA) held its annual Arts Festival April 16-18 at Memorial Hall in Melrose. The three day festival is a juried show featuring original fine art and fine craft by nearly 50 artist exhibitors from Melrose and surrounding areas. This year MACA also introduced a Fine Arts Raffle to coincide with the festival.

The Friday evening Preview Party featured the live music of Mike Wyatt Group, and the $10 entry fee included complimentary snacks, a prize drawing and there was a cash bar. The lively crowd appreciated the festive atmosphere and the opportunity to get first viewing of the 50 artist displays.

The weekend hours included an extended Saturday opening, and admission was free of charge. A very large number of families attended, and art lovers were able to return for additional viewing and purchasing.  Food was provided by Panera Cafe.

For the first time, a Fine Arts Raffle was the fund raiser for MACA and 6 original works by exhibiting artists were up for "grabs".  This was a fine success and gave people a chance to win a piece of original art for a modest ticket price.
